November 30th, 1946. 8th-ranked Tennessee takes on Vanderbilt in Nashville. The Volunteers squeak by the Commodores 7-6. The victory gives Tennessee its’ fourth Southeastern Conference Championship and sixth conference crown under General Neyland as the Big Orange finished 5-0 in SEC play. The General had retired from military service that year and returned for the start of his third and final stint as UT’s head coach.
