Tennessee’s basketball team has a huge opportunity this weekend as it prepares to face No. 1 Gonzaga in Phoenix on Sunday.
Tennessee has one loss this season – an overtime defeat at the hands of unbeaten Kansas on Nov. 23 – and has shown signs that it belongs in the conversation with the nation’s best teams.
A win against Gonzaga on Sunday would help validate the Vols, whose most recent win came at home against Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Sunday.
The status of Tennessee guard Lamonte Turner is in question as he continues to recover from offseason shoulder surgery. His status will affect what head coach Rick Barnes is able to do with lineup rotations, especially in the backcourt.
Tennessee and Gonzaga will tip off at 3 p.m. eastern time on Sunday with Vol Network coverage beginning at 2:30. Watch below as Tyler Ivens from The First Quarter and I discuss the latest with UT hoops against a big-time matchup against top-ranked Gonzaga.
