The Knox County Board of Health did not implement an order regarding the size of gatherings. The board considered limiting most public and private gatherings to 25 people per 900 square feet of building space.
At Wednesday’s meeting, board member Dr Patrick O’Brien, suggested not moving forward with the order because of public input and recent data that shows some COVID-19 benchmarks are leveling off or dropping in Knox County.
O’Brien says the order was prepared in case COVID-19 numbers continued to increase. He says they have to prepare measures like this in advance as the regulations can be difficult to develop, “on the fly.”
O’Brien says they are holding the measure and “I hope we never have touch it. I don’t want to. I don’t want to do that if we can help it.” He’s encouraging residents to continue to wear masks, social distance, and hold to the other core actions in Knox County’s reopening plan.
