Petro’s Chili and Chips in Market Square will be closing for good at the end of the week.
The restaurant will close its doors for the final time on Friday at 3 p.m.
The closure is due to a 170% increase in rent and the company says it can’t afford to offset that increase while also investing in the Market Square location to make it profitable.
This isn’t the first Petro’s location to close in the area in recent months. Locations in Powell, Clinton, Seymour and Oak Ridge all closed back in July, citing financial burden as the reasoning. The Powell location is supposed to reopen as a company owned store this year.
