KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – Knox County District Attorney Charme Allen announced on Thursday that a jury has convicted a man who was accused of raping and assaulting a woman in 2023.
Deangelo Malik Rogers, 29, was convicted of aggravated rape, aggravated assault and assault following a four-day trial.
During that trial, assistant district attorneys said on Feb. 24, 2023, Rogers went over to the victim’s apartment and raped her, even after the victim repeatedly refused his advances.
The assistant district attorneys said after going into Walmart, the victim got back into her car and Rogers once again followed her. The victim was able to get away from Rogers on the interstate and called 911.
The Knoxville Police Department went to the victim’s location and opened an investigation. They later found Rogers waiting at the victim’s apartment.
Rogers is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 20. He could face anywhere from 15 to 25 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
