Sevierville, TN (WOKI) UPDATE 9/15: Authorities in Sevierville identify the body found Sunday night along the Little Pigeon River.
Sevierville Police Department officials say officers responded around 6:00 p.m. to the report of a body near the Little Pigeon River next to the West Prong Greenway.
SPD says an initial investigation indicates that 58-year-old Richard James Myers of Sevierville was riding a bicycle when he left the greenway and landed in the rocky embankment between the river and the greenway, sustaining deadly injuries.
According to SPD, detectives do not believe foul play was involved. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
ORIGINAL STORY: An investigation is underway after a body is found in the Little Pigeon River in Sevierville.
The Sevierville Police Department called the scene near Popeyes Sunday night.
After arriving, they determined the body to be an adult man, but his identity has not yet been confirmed.
