TYLER, Texas – Tennessee redshirt junior wide receiver Chris Brazzell II was named a semifinalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award on Thursday.
The honor is presented annually to the nation’s most outstanding Division I offensive player who either played football at and graduated from a Texas high school or played at a Texas Division I four-year college. That player must also exhibit the enduring characteristics that define Texas legend Earl Campbell, such as integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, community and tenacity.
A former standout at Midland Legacy High School, Brazzell started his collegiate career with two years at Tulane before transferring to Tennessee prior to the 2024 season. After a solid debut season in Knoxville, Brazzell has had a breakout campaign for the Vols in 2025 with career highs in receptions (62), receiving yards (1,017) and receiving touchdowns (nine).
Brazzell’s 1,017 receiving yards lead the SEC and rank 11th nationally while his nine touchdown grabs are tied for the most in the league and 15th in the FBS. With his production this season, Brazzell has moved into the UT record books, ranking ninth in single-season history for receiving yards and tied for 10th in touchdown receptions. He also is tied for ninth in 100-yard receiving games in a single season with four.
To go along with his production on the field, Brazzell has left his mark on the community, as well. Along with his brother – Tennessee defensive back Colin Brazzell, and their parents, Chris and Monique Brazzell – he was able to give back to the Knoxville community by loading boxes of meals, turkeys and other food items in the mobile pantry line at Tabernacle Baptist Church in November. The generous support distributed over 38,000 pounds of food to feed more than 600 families for Thanksgiving this year.
The finalists for the 2025 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award will be announced on the week of Dec. 9 while the winner will be selected and revealed at the end of the month before being invited to the official award banquet on Jan. 21, 2026 in Tyler, Texas.
