Update (9:14, 3:00 p.m.): A two-day manhunt for the suspect in a fatal Anderson County shooting ended Thursday afternoon with the capture and arrest of 44-year-old Jason Dockery.

Officials with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office have confirmed that Dockery was taken into custody Thursday in Union County. He is wanted in connection to the fatal shooting, Tuesday, of 38-year-old Shystie Mayberry on Moores Gap Road in Heiskell.

Additional details regarding Dockery’s capture or pending charges against him have yet to be released from law enforcement.

Update (9/14): A manhunt for a murder suspect is centered back in East Tennessee after U.S. Marshals confirmed that Jason Dockery is in Union County after being sighted in Virginia yesterday (Wednesday).

U.S. Marshals say that a man gave Dockery a ride back to Union County without knowing who the hitchhiker was at the time and when he realized who Dockery was, he called the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

Captain Shain Vowell with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office says it’s important they catch Dockery because of his violent past encounters with law enforcement.

ACSO says Dockery was in the car with a 38-year-old woman, stopping on Moore’s Gap Road in Heiskell where the woman was shot multiple times outside of the car Tuesday and Dockery left the scene and dropped off a small child in Union County. Authorities don’t know if the child was in the car at the time of the shooting.

U.S. Marshals are offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with credible information.

Update 2: (9/13): The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into a deadly shooting in the Heiskell area.

The United States Marshals Service is currently offering a $5,000 reward for any information related to a man named Jason Dockery; Dockery is a suspect in the murder of 38-year-old Shystie Mayberry.

ACSO officials say Dockery was in the car with Mayberry when he shot her multiple times. He then dropped off a small child in Union County, but it is unclear if the child was in the car during the shooting.

Update (9/13): Police have released more information about the suspect involved in a fatal East Tennessee shooting.

Authorities are searching for Jason Dockery in Southwest Virginia, he is wanted out of Anderson County in a homicide case and on violations of probation in an assault case.

Claiborne County authorities spotted Dockery’s car but were unable to catch him as he headed toward Virginia.

The U.S. Marshals Service is also offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Update: The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect in a deadly shooting has been identified but they are withholding his name.

Authorities are trying to find him and investigators believe he is in the Lee County Virginia area.

The shooting happened yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon in the 200 block of Moore’s Gap Road in the Heiskell area. THP issued a be on the lookout for a murder and kidnapping suspect out of Anderson County and Claiborne county authorities spotted the suspect’s car but he got away.

Knoxville, TN (WOKI) Recent protests have now derailed an affordable housing development planned for the Choto community in West Knoxville.

Officials with developer Dominion Group telling our news partner WVLT Tuesday that plans to develop Choto Landing, a 56-unit townhome community providing quality and affordable housing for people who earn less than $70,000 a year, has been stopped.

People in the community had been fighting against the proposed development, citing concerns about increased traffic in the area and potential flooding concerns.

“Dominion Group remains committed to developing affordable housing and appreciates the individuals and organizations that support this cause in every community,” officials said in a statement.

Representative Jason Zachary also spoke out about the development, saying he had confirmed that Dominion sold their property off Northshore.

“When people engage, it changes the trajectory,” Zachary said.
