Alabama gets four-star LB Blackshire out of Texas

Four-star inside linebacker Kendrick Blackshire committed to Alabama on Tuesday night, choosing the Crimson Tide over LSU and Texas A&M.

He also had been recruited by Baylor, Illinois and Oklahoma, according to ESPN.

Blackshire, out of Duncanville (Texas) High School, is rated the seventh-best inside linebacker in Texas by 247sports, and his commitment boosts Alabama into the top 10 of the 247sports’ composite class rankings.

Blackshire is the 152nd-best prospect in the country, according to the 247sports composite. ESPN lists him at No. 178 overall, No. 4 at inside linebacker.

The 6-foot-2 Blackshire missed his junior season due to an ACL injury.

“I feel like they’re going to get me prepared better than anyone,” Blackshire told BamaOnLine about his commitment to the Tide.

“I feel like their training staff, that alone, will get my knee prepared for whatever I need to do in college. Just get prepared for the game. That’s a real strong reason why I chose Alabama because of their training staff and Nick Saban. He’s a defensive coach. They’re the one.”
