Loyola Chicago C Cameron Krutwig turning pro

Loyola Chicago center Cameron Krutwig, the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year, announced Thursday that he is forgoing his final year of eligibility to turn pro.

Krutwig, part of Loyola Chicago’s memorable run to the Final Four as a freshman, announced his decision in a video posted to YouTube.

“After a great four years here, a great career here, I feel that it’s in my best interest and the right move is to go professional and move on and try to pursue my dreams to play professional basketball whether that be in the NBA or overseas in Europe,” he said. “I think the time is right for me to go out and venture out and kind of start my life.”

Krutwig capped his career by leading the Ramblers to a Sweet Sixteen appearance last month. Loyola Chicago upset No. 1 seed Illinois in the second round as a No. 8 seed.

He averaged 13.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in 134 contests (130 starts) for the Ramblers. His 15 points per game led the Ramblers this past season.

Krutwig accrued many honors, including three-time all MVC, MVC tourney MVP, NCAA All-Region and 2021 All-MVC tourney.
