An Investigation by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Reveals an Officer was Shot in the Leg by Her Partner During a Call in Powell

A Knox County Sheriff’s Officer is recovering in the intensive care unit after being shot in the leg by another officer.

Investigators say the officers were responding to a call on Brickyard Road in Powell last (Tuesday) night when a large pit bull came around the trailer attacking Officer Lydia Driver. In an attempt to subdue the pit bull Officer Driver’s Partner, Officer Jordan Hurst fired his weapon, inadvertently striking Officer Driver in the left leg.

Officer Driver underwent emergency surgery. Sheriff Tom Spangler thanking the Knoxville Police Department for their assistance and the entire staff at UT Medical Center for their care of Officer Driver. He is also asking the community to pray for the officer’s recovery.

Original story: The Knox County Sheriff’s office is investigating after one of their officer’s is shot in leg while responding to a call.

It happened last (Tuesday) night on Brickyard Road in Powell.

The Officer was then taken to UT Medical Center for surgery. A spokesperson for the department says Sheriff Spangler has seen the officer and says the he is in good spirits. No other injuries were reported.
