Tyler Ivens 

Tyler Ivens was born and raised in Knoxville before spending five years in Iowa 
covering the Big 10. The Central High School alum attended the University of 
Tennessee  and made his way to 99.1 The Sports Animal here in Knoxville 
in the spring of 2017. Ivens is an avid New York Mets, Jets, Knicks 
and Islanders fan and loves  wagering, cigars, dogs 
and occasionally his co-workers.

Eric Cain

Eric Cain, or ‘Cainer’ as Tennessee fans probably know him, returned to the 
Sports Animal airwaves in July 2026 to join Tyler Ivens for ‘Tyler & Cainer’ from 
3-7 p.m. Cain began his radio career at the Sports Animal in September 2017. 
He spent five years as the morning show producer and board op, 
working with Ivens, Will West and  Heather Harrington. Cain cut his teeth as a 
fill-in host across station shows and hosted Saturday Sports Talk with 
Joel Silverberg for several years.  In 2022, Cain left the  Sports Animal to work 
full-time with Volquest of the On3 Network. He spent a total of seven 
years with Volquest, covering Tennessee baseball, football, recruiting and hosting 
podcasts and live shows. Cain spent two years doing radio play-by-play in 
Minor League Baseball and began his broadcasting career at 
Carson-Newman University.  Cain is an East Tennessee product who grew 
up in Jefferson County playing  football with the Patriots. 
Cain also lettered four years at Carson-Newman. 
He continues to host the daily ‘Locked on Vols’ Podcast.
