Update: A head-on crash in Monroe County leaves one person dead, others flown to hospital by helicopter.

This morning’s accident happened on Highway 68 near Frontier Road in the Christianburg neighborhood.

Authorities say that three people were in one car and two in the other. The driver of the other car was taken to the hospital, their condition has not been released.

Tennessee Highway Patrol is Investigating and officials are asking people not to post pictures on social media.

Original Story: Authorities are investigating a serious accident in Monroe County this morning.

Three medical helicopters called to the scene of the Highway 68 near Frontier Road accident in the Christianburg neighborhood this morning according to Monroe County Emergency Management Agency.

The highway closed from Watson’s Chapel Road to the 911 Center to allow the helicopters to land.

MCEMA officials are asking people to avoid posting pictures on social media.
