Cocke County, TN (WOKI/WVLT) – A woman is in custody after being arrested by the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office on animal cruelty and neglect charges.
Officials were investigating reports of a dog being left outside during a snowstorm and 54-year-old Joan Ayers was taken into custody Friday after a long search. Officials say the dog was rescued.
In addition to the animal abuse charges, Ayers is also facing multiple counts of contempt of court and failure to pay child support.
She is currently being held without bond.
