Anderson County, TN (WOKI) – The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a scam circulating in our community.
Individuals are contacting residents while claiming to work for a company called “United Phone Company” and attempting to collect money. These callers may request payment for alleged past-due accounts, service issues, or to avoid disconnection.
Please remember:• Do NOT provide personal information over the phone.
• Do NOT give out banking details, credit card numbers, or payment apps.
• Do NOT send money to someone you do not personally know.
If you receive one of these calls:
Hang up immediately. Do not engage or argue with the caller. Report the incident to our office.Scammers often use urgency and threats to pressure victims into quick decisions. Take a moment, verify the information, and contact your service provider directly using a trusted phone number listed on your bill or official website.
