Knoxville, TN (WOKI) – The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian-involved crash that happened on Chapman Highway Tuesday night.
At around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, KPD officers responded to Chapman Highway near Gwinfield Drive, where a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian, an adult man, was pronounced dead after arriving at the UT Medical Center.
Based on the preliminary findings of the still ongoing investigation, the pedestrian was attempting to cross Chapman Highway when he was struck by a northbound vehicle.
The investigation is being led by KPD crash reconstruction personnel. The investigation is in the early stages.
