Knox County, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – Malakiah Harris, who was 15 years-old when he was charged with the 2024 murder of 13-year-old Savannah Copeland in Powell, will be tried as an adult.
Yesterday’s (Thursday) decision by Juvenile Court Judge Tim Irwin was made because the Judge says the premeditated manner of the murder led to his decision. The call came after two days of testimony from law enforcement and investigators.
The court also heard from Chief Medical Examiner of the Knox County Regional Forensic Center who said Copeland had at least 90 stab wounds.
