Knoxville, TN (WOKI) – Two people were killed in a crash that occurred early Thursday morning on I-40 West.
At around 1:20 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to I-40 West near Walker Springs Road. Officers arrived at the scene, finding a man and woman who had been thrown from a motorcycle. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Based on the investigation at the scene, including witness statements, it is believed that the two victims were riding westbound on a motorcycle and collided with the back of another westbound vehicle.
No other injuries were reported in the crash, which is being investigated by KPD fatal accident investigators. That investigation remains ongoing.
The identities of the victims are being withheld at this time.
