Monroe County, TN (WOKI) – Following an extensive investigation into the illegal distribution of methamphetamine, agents with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division obtained and executed a search warrant at a residence in the Union Grove Road area of the Reliance community in Tellico Plains on Monday, March 30th.
During the search, agents located a large quantity of methamphetamine along with items commonly used in the distribution of illicit drugs, including packaging baggies and digital scales. Additional items recovered included marijuana and a significant amount of United States currency.
Evidence obtained at the Union Grove residence quickly led investigators to a second location in the Windsong Road area of Sweetwater. During that search, agents discovered a large amount of methamphetamine, a felony amount of psychedelic mushrooms, marijuana, digital scales, packaging materials, a substantial amount of cash, multiple items used for drug ingestion, and several high-powered firearms.
Further investigation then led agents to the Mount Vernon area of Tellico Plains, where a male subject with a lengthy history of methamphetamine distribution charges was located and taken into custody. At the time of his arrest, he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging baggies, and cash. The individual was also wanted on multiple warrants.
In total, three individuals were taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Jail. Charges include:
-Conspiracy to Possess Schedule II Methamphetamine for Resale ( 2 counts)
-Possession of Schedule II Methamphetamine for Resale (3 counts)
-Possession of Schedule I Psychedelic Drugs
-Maintaining a Drug Dwelling (2 counts)
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (3 counts)
-Violation of Probation (2 counts)
The investigation remains ongoing. No further information will be released at this time.
