Gatlinburg, Tenn. (Story courtesy of WVLT) – Gatlinburg Fire Department personnel are now monitoring the aftermath of an overnight fire at Sidney James Mountain Lodge.
The fire happened around 2 a.m., according to the fire department. When crews got to the scene, 610 Airport Rd., one hotel building with 20 units inside was ablaze, according to GFD.
“Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the affected building of the hotel and have since extinguished it. Personnel will remain on scene throughout the morning to monitor for any remaining hot spots,” a GFD news release said.Those affected by the fire were able to move into the Gatlinburg Community Center, GFD said, and no one was hurt.
GFD warned that Airport Road between McCarter Road and Cherokee Orchard Road is expected to stay closed until around 7 a.m.
The Sidney James Mountain Lodge describes itself as a family-owned operation that started in 1958.
