KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Story courtesy of WVLT) – The Knoxville Police Department is looking for a driver officers say drove past the newly-installed bollards on the Gay Street Bridge, traveling across the bridge that’s been limited to pedestrian traffic only.

It happened around 3 a.m. Saturday, according to the department, when a person in a black Nissan drove from the north side of the Tennessee River to the south. The driver hit both sets of bollards, KPD officials said, and damaged landscaping and city property. While no one was hurt, the department said the driver left the scene on foot.
KPD hit-and-run investigators have identified a person of interest. That said, the department is still asking for information. Those with something to share can call 865-215-7370.
