OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (June 19, 2026) (WOKI / WVLT – The City of Oak Ridge is inviting students to apply for its Fall 2026 Internship Program, with applications open now through July 10.
The paid, seasonal program is designed to provide students with valuable professional experience in their chosen field of study while working alongside city staff in a municipal government setting.
According to city officials, the internship program will begin in August 2026, with start dates aligned to participants’ fall semester schedules. Interns are expected to work between 20 and 30 hours each week, with flexible scheduling options available to accommodate academic commitments.
Participants can indicate their department of interest during the application process. Based on those preferences, interns will be assigned to a city department and paired with a mentor who will oversee their work, provide training, and offer weekly feedback.
All selected interns will participate in a group orientation before starting their assignments. While typical working hours fall between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, some departments may offer evening or weekend opportunities.
City leaders say the program is an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience, develop professional skills, and explore career opportunities in public service.
Applications and additional information are available online at OakRidgeTN.gov/Internships. A separate application period for the spring internship program will open in August.
