KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI)— Two Knoxville women have been charged following a shooting Saturday morning on East Hill Avenue that left one woman dead and two others injured.
According to the Knoxville Police Department, officers responded to a reported shooting at 411 East Hill Avenue at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 19.
When officers arrived, they found two women and one man suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the women was transported to Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.
The other woman and the male victim were taken to UT Medical Center with injuries that police said appeared to be non-life-threatening. Both victims were treated and later released.
During the investigation, detectives identified Lerisha Williams, 45, as a suspect in the shooting that resulted in the woman’s death. Officers located and arrested Williams a short time later. She has been charged with one count of reckless homicide along with additional weapons-related charges.
Investigators also determined that Quinshayla Williams, 22, allegedly shot the surviving woman and man during the incident. She was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, in addition to weapons charges.
Police have not released the name of the deceased victim. Her identity is being withheld until next of kin have been notified.
The investigation remains ongoing.
