SNEEDVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — A Hancock County man has been indicted and arrested following a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation probe into allegations that he sexually assaulted a young girl.
According to the TBI, special agents launched the investigation in March at the request of 3rd Judicial District Attorney General Dan Armstrong. The investigation focused on allegations involving Timothy Ryan Gibson, 29, of Sneedville.
During the investigation, agents gathered evidence indicating that Gibson allegedly inappropriately touched a child at a residence in Sneedville in November 2025, according to the TBI.
As a result of the investigation, the Hancock County Grand Jury returned an indictment on Monday charging Gibson with one count of aggravated sexual battery.
Authorities arrested Gibson on Oct. 5 and booked him into the Hancock County Jail. Jail records show he is being held on a $75,000 bond.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said the case remains active and that investigators are continuing to pursue additional leads.
Officials noted that additional charges are pending, though no further details have been released about the ongoing investigation.
The case will now proceed through the Hancock County court system, where Gibson will face the felony charge stemming from the TBI investigation.
As with all criminal cases, the charge against Gibson is an accusation, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
Anyone with information that may be relevant to the investigation is encouraged to contact law enforcement authorities.
