NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI) – Tennessee State Parks is inviting East Tennessee residents to help shape the future of some of the region’s most popular outdoor destinations.
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) and Tennessee State Parks are launching a series of public meetings to gather feedback on new five-year strategic management plans for 12 state parks across Tennessee.
Officials say every Tennessee State Park develops a strategic management plan to serve as a long-term blueprint for operations, conservation efforts, visitor services and facility improvements. Community members will have the opportunity to review proposed goals and priorities and provide feedback before the plans are finalized.
The plans focus on four key areas: resource stewardship, visitor experience, facilities and amenities, and operational excellence.
Several East Tennessee parks are included in this year’s planning process:
Panther Creek State Park
- Oct. 12
- Upper Campground Pavilion
- Morristown
Hiwassee Scenic River State Park
- Oct. 22
- Visitor Center
- Delano
Norris Dam State Park
- Nov. 12
- Amphitheater
- Rocky Top
Harrison Bay State Park
- Dec. 12
- Recreation Hall
- Harrison
TDEC says park staff will present proposed management objectives during the meetings and collect public comments. In addition to speaking at the meetings, Tennesseans can submit written comments online through Dec. 31, 2026.
Officials hope public feedback will help guide future improvements while preserving the natural, recreational and historical resources that make Tennessee’s state parks popular destinations for residents and visitors alike.
Residents can review the individual park plans through the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s conservation planning website or request copies directly from the department.
