The Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday announced the retention of Zaccharie Risacher for the 2027-28 season.
The team exercised a fourth-year option on the small forward, worth $17.4 million, after acquiring him in a July three-team trade.
The 21-year-old was the first overall selection in the 2024 NBA Draft by the Hawks. Atlanta traded Risacher away for Ryan Nembhard from the Mavericks and Luguentz Dort from the Oklahoma City Thunder, with several draft picks and trade exceptions also included in the swap.
Risacher, a French international who was born in Spain, struggled to make an impact over two seasons in Atlanta, averaging 11.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
An All-Rookie selection regardless, Risacher has seen greater success in Dallas, primarily on the defensive end, where he recorded eight steals and eight blocks over four games for the 2-2 Mavericks entering their Wednesday game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He also was averaging eight points and a career-high six rebounds per game.
