KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – A Morristown man is facing criminal charges after authorities say he disguised himself as a security guard to gain access to Saturday’s sold-out Tennessee-Alabama football game at Neyland Stadium.
According to court records obtained by WVLT News, officers encountered 20-year-old Blake Bible near the G10 parking garage ramp on Phillip Fulmer Way shortly before 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police reported that Bible was wearing a uniform belonging to Axis Security, the company contracted to provide event security services for University of Tennessee athletic events. Officers also observed him drinking a White Claw alcoholic beverage in the area.
Investigators contacted an Axis supervisor, who confirmed that Bible was not employed by the company.
According to the report, officers learned Bible had allegedly obtained and worn an Axis polo shirt and hat in an effort to gain access to the highly anticipated rivalry matchup between Tennessee and Alabama.
Authorities allege the uniform items had been stolen and used to make it appear that Bible was part of the event security staff.
Bible was taken into custody and charged with theft of property.
The incident occurred on a day when Neyland Stadium was packed with fans for one of the most anticipated games of the season, a contest that ended with Tennessee defeating Alabama 26-10.
Bible is scheduled to be arraigned on the charge in Knox County court on October 30th.
No additional charges have been announced.
