Secretary of State Tre Hargett Encourages Voters to Make a Plan Before Election Day
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI) — More than one million Tennesseans have already cast ballots ahead of the November 3 State and Federal General Election, according to state election officials.
With the early voting period set to end tomorrow, Secretary of State Tre Hargett is encouraging registered voters who have not yet participated to make a plan to vote before the deadline.
“More than one million Tennesseans have already made their voices heard, and I encourage every registered voter who has not yet voted to take advantage of this final day of early voting,” Hargett said.
State officials are urging voters to visit GoVoteTN.gov or use the free GoVoteTN mobile app to verify polling locations and hours, review sample ballots, check voter registration information and learn more about the three proposed constitutional amendments appearing on the November ballot.
Each constitutional amendment will appear as a separate yes-or-no question for voters to decide. The Tennessee Attorney General’s Office has prepared summaries to help explain the proposed changes before Election Day.
Election officials say voters who plan to cast ballots in person during early voting or on Election Day must bring a valid photo ID issued by the federal government or the State of Tennessee. Expired state or federal IDs are also acceptable under Tennessee law.
Officials noted that student IDs, IDs issued by other states, and local government-issued identification cards are not accepted for voting purposes.
The Secretary of State’s Office is encouraging voters to prepare before arriving at the polls to help streamline the voting process and reduce wait times.
Election Day across Tennessee is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3.
