Knoxville, TN (WOKI) – A man died after being struck by a van on Western Avenue near Eubanks Avenue on Monday morning.
At approximately 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a pedestrian-involved crash on Western Avenue at Eubanks Avenue.
The preliminary investigation showed that a Dodge Town & Country Caravan was driving south on Western Avenue when it left the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation, ran onto the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian, a 36-year-old man. The driver, a 48-year-old man, told officers his vehicle was having mechanical trouble and caused him to lose control. After striking the pedestrian, the van crashed into a utility pole.
The pedestrian and driver were both transported to UT Medical Center. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the hospital.
No charges have been filed at this time. The crash investigation remains ongoing. Upon completion of the investigation, the case file will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
