Blount County Circuit Court Judge Tammy Harrington denied Kenneth DeHart’s motion for bond during his court appearance on Monday.
According to court records, DeHart will continue to be held in jail without bond.
DeHart is accused of shooting and killing Deputy Greg McCowan during a traffic stop on Feb. 8, 2024. Another deputy, Shelby Eggers, was also injured.
DeHart then drove away from the scene as Eggers was trying to treat herself and McCowan while waiting for backup.
After a five-day manhunt, he was taken into custody.
DeHart is scheduled to go to trial on Sept. 14, 2026.
