KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A motorcycle crash on I-40 in Knoxville Saturday afternoon led to a 16-year-old getting both of his feet amputated, according to the Knoxville Police Department. It happened around 3:30 p.m. on I-40 West just past Cherry Street. KPD said it’s believed the 16-year-old, who was operating a motorcycle, was speeding on I-40 when he lost control and crashed into a guardrail. Officers said he was alert and conscious but sustained “significant injuries” in the crash, including the amputation of both feet from crashing into the guardrail. According to KPD, he was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment and surgery.
