DANDRIDGE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting that happened Thursday night in Dandridge.
Authorities say deputies responded to a call on Riverfront Circle and found a man shot. First responders attempted CPR, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the sheriff’s office, the person who fired the gun was taken into custody and questioned by investigators before being released.
Preliminary findings indicate the victim was armed with a sword at the time of the shooting. Investigators say evidence collected at the scene supports that claim.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation responded to assist with the case, which remains active and ongoing.
Officials have not released additional details as they continue gathering information about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
