UPDATE 6/8/26 – OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — Water service is being restored after a waterline break along Tulsa Road caused low pressure and outages across parts of Oak Ridge on Sunday.
City Public Works crews responded to the issue shortly after reports began around 1:30 p.m. Officials said the break was impacting a large portion of the city while crews worked to determine the cause and begin repairs.
By Sunday evening, crews had installed a new section of pipe and began backfilling the site. Water service was gradually restored to customers, and by 9:40 p.m., officials confirmed the line had been repaired and crews were flushing the system.
At the height of repairs, officials said most residents were not expected to lose service entirely. However, some experienced low pressure or temporary outages. Residents were also advised they might notice cloudy or discolored water due to the work.
Public Works recommends running cold water faucets for five to ten minutes to clear lines. If discoloration continues, residents should keep flushing until water runs clear. Officials also suggest discarding ice made during the outage and waiting until water clears before doing laundry.
The city thanked residents for their patience as crews worked throughout the day to restore service.
