KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – A 17-year-old already charged in a Roane County murder is now facing additional charges in Knoxville following a traffic stop that led to a crash and pursuit.
According to arrest records, Riley Pawlick was stopped by an officer around 10:30 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 40 near West Hills. The officer reported smelling marijuana coming from Pawlick’s vehicle. Pawlick allegedly admitted he had smoked earlier in the day and told the officer he was out on bond for a second-degree murder charge.
When asked to step out of the vehicle, Pawlick instead sped off, exiting the interstate at West Hills. According to the report, he crashed into an uninvolved vehicle moments later while attempting to evade the stop.
Officers later located Pawlick at an apartment complex on Gleason Drive, where he was taken into custody.
Pawlick is now charged with reckless endangerment and evading arrest.
