VFL Chad Dallas became the 53rd former Tennessee player to make his MLB debut after being called up by Toronto from Triple-A Buffalo, pitching 3.2 innings of relief for the Blue Jays against the Atlanta Braves on June 4 to earn his first-career win. This year at the Triple-A level, Dallas has posted a 4.23 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 38.1 innings pitched for the Bisons.
Midway through the month of June, a handful of minor league Vols have put together impressive seasons to this point, none more so than rookie Andrew Fischer, who has made High-A look easy in his first season of professional baseball and just earned himself a promotion to the Milwaukee Brewers Double-A affiliate Biloxi Shuckers.
In 54 games with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, Fischer posted a 1.118 OPS with 51 runs scored and led the Midwest League with 20 home runs while ranking second with 50 RBIs.
The Shuckers, who also have former Vol slugger Blake Burke on their roster, will be in town to take on the Knoxville Smokies next month from July 7-12 for a series at Covenant Health Park.
Another recently promoted former Vol is pitcher Nate Snead, who is now with the Los Angeles Angels Double-A affiliate Rocket City Trash Pandas after a super impressive start to his professional career at the High-A level with the Tri-City Dust Devils, where he posted a 3-3 record with a 2.80 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP over seven starts while racking up 39 strikeouts in 35.1 innings pitched.
Snead was promoted on May 26 and earned his first victory in Double-A on June 10 after striking out five over 5.1 innings against Chattanooga.
