Knoxville, TN (WOKI) – The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a suspected domestic-related shooting that occurred late Sunday night at a residence on Fine Avenue.
According to KPD, officers were dispatched around 11 p.m. Sunday, July 19, to a reported shooting with a victim at a home in the 2100 block of Fine Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to UT Medical Center for treatment. Police said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
During the investigation, detectives determined the shooting occurred after a prolonged domestic altercation involving the victim and a woman who remained at the scene.
Police said the woman was detained and questioned by KPD Violent Crime Unit detectives following the incident.
Investigators believe the woman shot the victim during the dispute, but authorities have not announced any charges. Detectives continue to review the circumstances surrounding the shooting to determine exactly what occurred and whether criminal charges are warranted.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
