Sevier County, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – Coy “Denver” Parton, one of country music icon Dolly Parton’s brothers, has died at the age of 82.
According to an obituary published by Atchley Funeral Home, Parton died on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Parton was remembered by family as a devoted husband, father and grandfather who spent much of his life working as a crane operator helping build bridges. His obituary also highlights his love for farming and hunting.
A Life Rooted in East Tennessee
Family members described Parton as a hardworking man who enjoyed life on his homestead farm and was known for his passion for the outdoors.
In addition to his years as a crane operator, Parton maintained strong ties to his East Tennessee roots and family traditions.

Parton was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Parton, as well as his parents and younger brothers.
He is survived by:
- Daughters Chris Parton and Jennifer Parton
- Grandson Ian Parton
- Ian Parton’s fiancée, Taylor York
- Brother Bobby Parton
- Sisters Willadeene Buzzeo, Dolly Parton and Stella Parton
The Parton family has long been one of East Tennessee’s most well-known families, with Dolly Parton becoming an internationally recognized singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist.
Private Services Planned
Atchley Funeral Home said funeral services will be held privately.
No cause of death has been released.
Parton’s passing comes as family, friends and community members remember a man who spent decades working, farming and raising a family in East Tennessee while remaining closely connected to one of the region’s most prominent families.
