KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI) — Early voting for the August 6, 2026 Knox County Election has officially concluded, with more than 54,000 ballots cast before Election Day.
According to the Knox County Election Commission, early voting ended at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. A total of 52,633 voters cast ballots during the early voting period, while an additional 1,974 votes were submitted through absentee ballots and nursing home voting.
As of July 25, Knox County had 268,073 active registered voters.
More Than 1,300 First-Time Voters Participate
Election officials reported 1,314 first-time voters participated in the election.
Of those first-time voters:
- 506 cast Republican ballots
- 770 cast Democratic ballots
- 38 cast General Election-only ballots
Officials also highlighted participation among some of the county’s oldest voters. The oldest absentee voter was 102 years old, while the oldest voter to cast an early in-person ballot was 101 years old.

- Democratic ballots: 1,097

Older Voters Lead Turnout
Voters age 55 and older accounted for the largest share of early voting participation.

- Republican ballots: 1,768
- Democratic ballots: 4,000
- General only: 72
Age 35-54
- Republican ballots: 5,943
- Democratic ballots: 6,281
- General only: 167
Age 55 and Older
- Republican ballots: 24,996
- Democratic ballots: 10,930

Busiest County Districts
District 4 recorded the highest number of ballots cast with 8,246 votes, followed closely by District 5 with 8,207 votes.
Districts featuring county commission or school board races generally saw strong turnout as voters weighed in on several local contests across the county.
District 7, which includes both a county commission and school board race, recorded 6,127 votes. District 3, featuring a county commission race, saw 6,222 votes cast.

The busiest precinct in the county during early voting was:
- Farragut Middle School (66NW) – 1,844 votes
- Korean Church of Knoxville (66SE) – 1,651 votes
- Rocky Hill Elementary School (71) – 1,518 votes
- Karns High School (63) – 1,393 votes
- Gibbs Elementary School (81) – 1,350 votes
- Cedar Bluff Middle School (67) – 1,297 votes
- Amherst Elementary School (70E) – 1,290 votes
- Ball Camp Elementary School (70W) – 1,224 votes
- Brickey-McCloud Elementary School (59) – 1,200 votes
- Halls High School (61W) – 1,108 votes
Looking Ahead to Election Day
With early voting now complete, attention turns to Election Day on Thursday, Aug. 6. Election officials are encouraging voters who have not yet cast a ballot to check their polling location and make plans to vote.
The more than 54,600 ballots already submitted provide an early indication of strong voter engagement as Knox County residents prepare to decide a number of local races and issues.
