KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) is providing free transportation throughout Knoxville on Election Day to help residents get where they need to go, including polling locations.
KAT announced that all rides on Thursday, August 6, will be free for passengers across its transit network.
The fare-free service applies to both KAT’s fixed-route bus system and its LIFT door-to-door transportation service, which serves eligible riders who require specialized transit accommodations.
Regular Service Schedule
Transit officials said buses will continue to operate on their normal schedules and routes throughout Election Day.
“KAT will follow regular schedules and routing on Election Day,” the agency said in its announcement.
The free service is intended to remove transportation barriers and provide easier access to voting locations and other destinations across the city.

Passengers can access route maps, schedules, and real-time transit information through the Transit App or by visiting KATBus.com.

City transit leaders encourage riders to plan ahead and take advantage of the free service available throughout Election Day.
