Manchester, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – Bonnaroo organizers have announced that the iconic Tennessee music festival will not take place in 2027, citing the need for extensive recovery and restoration work at its longtime home in Manchester.
In a statement, festival officials said the event is taking a “much-needed year off” to allow The Farm, particularly the main venue area, to recover after enduring consecutive years of storm-related challenges.
The decision follows significant investments ahead of the 2026 festival, including upgraded infrastructure designed to improve the site’s ability to withstand severe weather.
According to organizers, those improvements included:
- 4.5 miles of new roadways
- Major drainage enhancements
- 135 acres of newly planted grass
Despite those efforts, heavy rainfall during the final day of Bonnaroo 2026 created additional problems across the property.
Severe weather forced organizers to evacuate and temporarily close Centeroo, the festival’s central concert and activity area, on the final day of the event. When attendees were allowed to return, portions of the venue remained muddy and difficult to maintain.
Festival officials said the cumulative impact of several years of storm-related issues made it clear that additional recovery time is necessary.
Organizers acknowledged that canceling a year of the festival was a difficult decision but said they believe the pause will benefit Bonnaroo’s long-term future and help preserve the grounds for future events.
Bonnaroo has become one of the nation’s premier music festivals since launching in Manchester in 2002, drawing fans from across the country to Middle Tennessee each year.
With the 2027 festival canceled, organizers are expected to focus on restoration efforts at The Farm before planning for Bonnaroo’s return in 2028.
