The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting.

Chief Deputy Tony Allen says deputies went to a home on Rocky Hill Lane in Church Hill yesterday (Wednesday) morning and found a 22-year-old man, Shamond Harris, dead on the floor.

The investigation led them to Cradic Road in Surgoinsville, where a firearm believed to be the murder weapon was found in a wooded area.

31-year-old Daquion Carter was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Preliminary investigation suggests the motive for the shooting is connected to an escalating dispute involving a mutual female acquaintance.
