Karlyn Pickens Named Top 10 Finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year for Second Straight Season

OKLAHOMA CITY – Tennessee junior Karlyn Pickens has been named a top 10 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award for the second consecutive season, the organization announced Wednesday.

A two-time SEC Pitcher of the Year, Pickens ranks third nationally with a 0.92 ERA and holds a 20-8 record. The right-hander has recorded a career-high 231 strikeouts over 174.1 innings while limiting opponents to a .168 batting average this season.

In 34 appearances and 25 starts, Pickens has thrown 19 complete games, including six shutouts.

She becomes just the third player in Tennessee softball history to earn top-10 finalist honors twice in her career. Overall, this marks the 17th time a Lady Vol has been named a top-10 finalist for the prestigious award.

The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award is considered the highest individual honor in Division I college softball, recognizing the nation’s most outstanding player over the course of the season.

The top three finalists will be announced Monday, May 19, with the 2025 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year set to be revealed ahead of the NCAA Women’s College World Series.
