A 17-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection to a Minnesota Avenue shooting that injured two on Tuesday night.
At just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to an apartment at 1944 Minnesota Avenue in the Lonsdale Homes community. Once inside the apartment, officers located two juvenile males who had been shot. Both victims were transported to the UT Medical Center for treatment. One victim was in critical condition, while the other was in stable condition with suspected non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses on scene reported seeing a black SUV drive by the apartment with an individual shooting from the vehicle. A review of surveillance camera video confirmed those details and led to the identification of the suspect vehicle.
Officers then responded to the registered address for the vehicle, where they located the black SUV and a 17-year-old male who was identified as the driver during the shooting. After the suspect was detained and questioned, he was charged via juvenile petitions with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and five counts of reckless endangerment.
The shooting remains under active investigation by KPD Homicide Unit detectives.
