A plane which took off from Downtown Island Home Airport crashes in Giles County, killing a Knoxville woman and her Dad who were the only ones on-board the single-engine airplane.
Jenny and James Blalock were killed when their plane went down near Pulaski near the Marshall County line. The Federal Aviation Administration says contact was lost with the single-engine Beechcraft airplane around noon yesterday (Thursday).
The plane is registered to Plantation Reclaimed Inc.
Knoxville nurse’s death being investigated as a homicide, police say(Frankly Media)
Knoxville, TN (WOKI) A Knoxville nurse’s death in September is now being investigated as a homicide.
Knoxville Police Department officials say detectives were notified Wednesday, December 6 by the Knox County Regional Forensic Center that the death of 61 year-old Janice Allison of Knoxville had been classified as a homicide.
Police report that on September 23, 2023 a patient pushed Allison down while working at East Tennessee Behavioral Health on Old Weisgarber Road. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries.
KPD says that on October 25, 2023 Allison died as a result of medical complications from injuries sustained in the September incident.
The Homicide Unit officially opened the investigation based on the Medical Examiner’s determination of the cause of death. The Homicide Unit will continue to collaborate with the Medical Examiner’s Office and the Knox County District Attorney’s Office.
At this time, no charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.

Sevier County, TN (WOKI) The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has issued an Endangered Child Alert for a Sevier County 6-year-old.
TBI officials say 6-year-old Elizabeth Ledford is 4′6″ tall and weighs 60 pounds with red hair and blue eyes.
They say she may be traveling in a blue 2009 Nissan Versa with Washington State Tag CCV8393 and may be in Washington state; she was last seen on November 28, 2023.

Maryville, TN (WOKI) A Maryville man is in custody after leading officers on a 120 mile-per-hour chase Tuesday in a rented Maserati.
Twenty-seven year-old Isaiah Hearn was driving the car on I-40 near Papermill Drive in Knoxville. Police say he was driving at “excessive speeds” and swerving in and out of traffic. Initially, police thought the car had been stolen because of a dispatch report so they pursued Hearn who took them on a chase along Cherry Street and I-40.
Police eventually tracked Hearn down based on information from the car’s owner who told them that she rents the car using Turo. Hearn was taken into custody at his home; he was charged with speeding, evading arrest and reckless driving.

Knox County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigators say the fatal fire on Tyler Jacobs Way in the Forest Ridge Apartment Community was intentionally started.
Crews were called to the scene on November 15th and investigators have determined the suspect and victim are the same, 37 year-old Michael Pelletier so no charges will be filed in the case.
Knoxville, TN (WOKI) Two men suspected of robbing a USPS truck Wednesday morning are on the loose.
Knoxville Police Department officials say officers responded around 10:00 a.m. to the 2200 block of Dandridge Avenue when a call came in that a USPS worker had been robbed at gunpoint. They say one of the men had driven away in the USPS truck, while the other had driven away in a white Toyota. The mail carrier was not injured.
About an hour later, officers canvassing the area found the USPS truck and one of the suspects in a vacant lot off of Cityview Avenue. KPD says the armed suspect ran from officers, who eventually lost sight of him in the Chester Avenue area.
Officers were also able to track down the white Toyota, also abandoned on Cityview Avenue. KPD says the suspect may have fled into the area of Walter P. Homes.
Knoxville Police say the efforts remain ongoing to identify and locate the suspects who were described as Black males wearing masks.

Knoxville, TN (WOKI) A Knoxville man is facing multiple charges including assaulting an officer after he reportedly almost hit one with his car before leading police on a chase during a traffic stop.
The incident happened Monday around 9:00 p.m. when police spotted a vehicle which matched a BOLO (be on lookout) and attempted to pull over 30 year-old Demarcus Montgomery at Heiskell Avenue and North Central when he fled hitting an officer’s vehicle.
Montgomery drove off then fled on foot. When officers caught up, they say they tasered Montgomery before taking him into custody.
Once Montgomery was in custody, officers reportedly searched his car and found more than two pounds of marijuana. He’s now facing several drug, driving, and resisting arrest charges.
